Our Role

JPG communicates with Government, NHS organisations, regulators, patient and professional bodies and the scientific community to generate understanding of our position on key issues in the UK that could impact our members’ future life sciences investment in the UK.

Within our constitution the JPG aims;

To fully represent the views of Japanese life sciences companies in the UK

To promote Japanese commitment to involvement in healthcare in the UK

To shape the attitudes of Japanese parent companies to encourage investment and business in the UK

To foster communications between the Japanese Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (JPMA) and the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) and the Government

Our purpose as a Group is to

  • Provide networking opportunity for members to discuss shared challenges / opportunities and provide collective voice to key external stakeholders
  • Develop and communicate shared positions on key UK policies that impact Japanese pharmaceutical companies, spanning research through to commercialisation
  • Enhance and facilitate relationships between company HQs, the Japanese Embassy and UK officials
  • Provide a forum for two-way communication between the ABPI Board and Japanese Pharmaceutical Companies
  • Enable sharing of best practice for operational matters through the experience and knowledge of member companies
